تتناول هذه القصة مسيرة حياة الصحابي \"عبيدة بن الحارث بن عبد المطلب بن مناف\"، من صحابة النبي صلی الله عليه وآله وسلم ومن أصحاب المنزلة لديه، شارك في غزوة بدر واستشهد متأثرا بجراحه في المبارزة الأولی التي قاتل فيها إلى جنب حمزة بن عبد المطلب وعلي بن أبي طالب. وكان أحد السابقين الأولين، وهو أسن من الرسول صلی الله عليه وآله وسلم بعشر سنوات، هاجر هو وأخواه الطفيل والحصين، أرسله النبي صلی الله عليه وآله وسلم في سرية من ستين راكبا من المهاجرين، وعقد له لواء فالتقى قريشا وعليهم أبو سفيان عند ثنية المرة، وقيل بأنها كانت أول سرية في الإسلام. وسمي بصاحب المسك لأن الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم لما نزل بأصحابه بالتاربين قال له أصحابه : إنا نجد ريح المسك. قال : \"وما يمنعكم؟ وها هنا قبر أبي معاوية\"
