إن الكتاب يتتبع باهتمام تفاصيل الدور الذي اضطلعت به عائلة المحمود في تاريخ الشارقة والإمارات، بل وفي بلدان خليجية أخرى، بدءا من تأسيس مدرسة التيمية المحمودية مرورا بدور الشيخ محمد بن علي المحمود في تأسيس مدرسة الإصلاح الأم التي أعطت التعليم في الإمارات دفعة كبيرة للإمام، وأدت فيما بعد إلى النقلة النوعية التي عرفها التعليم في الشارقة والإمارات بصفة عامة.
