في هذا الكتاب يقدم د. جابر عصفور تحية لصديقه الراحل الشاعر صلاح عبد الصبور، بتقديم سيرة عن حياته واشتغالاته الفكرية والشعرية ؛ سردا ونقدا، وما إنطوت عليها من مفارقات صارخة بين الوعي الأيدولوجي والإدراك الجمالي، ومدى تأثره بمجال الفكر الغربي ومدارسه، وأبدى صلاح عبد الصبور في بداياته تأثرا بالماركسية بوصفها إنتماء فكريا، ولكن تركها بعد حين حيث لم يحتمل صرامة الشيوعية والتطرف في الممارسة، وكان أثر الماركسية ظاهرا في منواله الشعري.
