قد صدرت أول ثلاث أجزاء من الموسوعة وهى تغطى الفترة من 1896 حتى 1945. والثلاثة أجزاء من توثيق وتحرير الأستاذ أحمد الحضرى رحمه الله. وتعتمد الموسوعة على توثيق كل الأفلام الروائية ذات الإنتاج المصري والتى تم عرضها على شاشات السينما. الموسوعة تأليف الناقد السينمائي والمؤرخ أحمد الحضري، وقامت بطباعة أجزائها الثلاثة هيئة الكتاب المصرية بالاشتراك مع مركز توثيق التراث الحضاري والطبيعي التابع لمكتبة الإسكندرية، ويركز هذا الجزء على الفترة من 1941 وحتى نهاية 1945، ويضم معلومات وثائقية عن 112 فيلما روائيا طويلا، قدم منها المخرج إبراهيم لاما 9 أفلام، وأحمد بدرخان عشرة أفلام، وتوجو مزراحي أحد عشر فيلما، وكمال سليم تسعة أفلام، ونيازي مصطفى اثني عشر فيلما، بينها فيلم «سي عمر» بطولة نجيب الريحاني، وهو واحد من الأفلام التي تم اختيارها ضمن قائمة أهم مائة فيلم في السينما المصرية.
