تقوم هذه الدراسة على تحليل النص الأدبي في ضوء القرائن الحضارية. فهي ترنو إلى أن تضع الظاهرة الأدبية في سياقها التاريخي لذا فهي تتخذ من «التناول التاريخي» ركيزة فلسفية في دراستها لمصادر الكتاب وللواقع التاريخي الذي صوره «المويلحي» ورؤيته الجمالية له، في شكل لوحات روائية داخل إطار «المقامة» وإن طور في وظيفتها. وقد طمحت هذه الدراسة أن تبحث في الدوافع الدفينة وراء النص الأدبي «حديث عيسى بن هشام» في ضوء كتابات «المويلحي» النقدية والاجتماعية.
