من خلال هذا الكتاب أردت إبراز الحضارة العربية والإسلامية بثوبها القشيب المهيب من خلال هذا الكتاب المتواضع والذي أسميته (العلوم عند العرب والمسلمين) وأردت الكشف عن تراث الأمة العربية والإسلامية كي يشرق شمس الأمة من جديد وسلطت الضوء على بعض الجوانب فيه حتى نعيد للشاب العربي المسلم شيئا من الثقة في تراثه التليد وأمجاده، بدأ من السلف الصالح، بعد أن كادت الأبواق الناعقة تفقده هذه الثقة بدينه الشامل الناسخ لكافة الأديان السماوية قاطبة في زمن تداعت فيه الأمم على أمة الإسلام وعلي دين الله العظيم كما تتداعى الأكلة على قصعتها ولقد ركزت في تأليف هذه المادة على جانبين هامين أولاهما الجانب التاريخي والثاني الجانب الفكري، إذ لا غنى لأحدهما عن الآخر ولا تتضح الصورة جلية إلا بهما معا.
