الكايزن Kaizens هو مصطلح ياباني يعني التحسين المستمر يتكون المصطلح من جزأين-Kai\" وتعني التغيير Change و\"Zen\" وتعني إلى الأفضل For the better، حيث يعني المصطلح التغيير إلى الأفضل أو الأحسن وقد ظهر مفهوم الكايزن للوجود عام 1984 على يد الخبير الياباني ماساكي إماي الأساس في كايزن هو العمل على إزالة المودا وهي كلمة يابانية معناها الهدر كل عمل ينفذ يمكن تحسينه وكل عملية تتم حاليا لابد وأنها تحتوي على أي هدر من أي نوع سواء ماديا أو معنويا أو فكريا والتقليل من هذا الهدر ينتج قيمة مضافة للعملية والعميل المستفيد من نتائجها.
