Ovarian cancer is the most lethal gynecological malignancy. However, effective screening strategies have not been established and continue to be elusive. A good screening test must adequately address validity, reliability, yield, cost, acceptance and follow-up services. An ideal screening test for ovarian cancer must have a high sensitivity in order to correctly diagnose all women with the disease and a high specificity to avoid false-positive results. The current screening modalities of bimanual examination, CA-125 and transvaginal ultrasonography together allow us to detect only 30-45% of women with early-stage disease. Recent developments in proteomic and genomic research have identified a number of potential biomarkers. Although panels of tumor markers and proteomic-based technologies may improve the positive predictive value, all markers require validation and interfacing with newly developed diagnostic imaging technologies. While a large amount of information on miRNAs has been promising, much remains to be elucidated. This review will examine the current status of biomarkers and technologies of interest in the effort of early detection of ovarian cancer.

The Tse Keh Nay, who oppose the destruction of Amazay Lake, have not been consulted by government, do not have a meaningful role in the Kemess North environmental assessment and as seen in our participation \"under protest\" at the public hearings, have raised a large number of outstanding questions that have gone unanswered in this process. We are not opposed to economic development. But development must respect our spiritual laws and principles. Destroying lakes for gold is wrong. The governments of B.C. and Canada must respect the Tse Keh Nay's law and tell Northgate that Amazay Lake cannot be destroyed.

Remembering the Kemess North decision

On this day, the Tse Keh Nay would like to remember the five-year struggle to protect Amazay Lake and the headwaters of the Finlay/Peace Rivers and to share lessons learned for future mining development in Tse Keh Nay land. This includes Terrane Metals' Mount Milligan, Taseko's Prosperity and Imperial Metals' Red Chris. We seek revenue-sharing at existing mines like Kemess South, the cleanup of abandoned toxic sites like Bralorne and better environmental monitoring to prevent disasters like the tailings spill at Sable Resources' Baker Mine in July.

Amazay Lake lies at the headwater of the Finlay River, which is the drinking water source for the Kwadacha and Tse Keh Dene First Nations. If a panel had turned down a plan to have Vancouver's Capilano Reservoir become a toxic tailings dump, would the mining association still claim the same \"untested subjective concerns\"?

Yes, Detroit has had early playoff exits, while at the same time the Leafs stay in, only to be defeated by a team who doesn't make it to the finals. Another fact: Detroit went 43 years without winning a Stanley Cup, and now Toronto has gone 40 years without drinking from Lord Stanley's mug. Toronto is on pace to break Detroit's old record. As for Montreal, they haven't had much glory since Patrick Roy was their netminder.
