هذا الكتاب يبحث مفهوم وطبيعة النمط والنماذج اللغوية الاجتماعية للتبدل النمطي ومحاولة تمييز معالجة النمط كظاهرة لغوية من حيث المفهوم ومن حيث التعريف والنظريات اللغوية الاجتماعية المطورة لرصد طبيعتها ونقف عند مفهوم النمط وتبدله في الخطابة وعلم الأنماط وسوف يقدم قراءة في أعمال كثيرة من اليونان أى الغرب ويبحث في دور الخطباء وكذلك النصوص الأدبية وغيرها ويميز بين المعنى اللغوي والاجتماعي للتباين النمطي وتدرس ظاهرة البدل النمطي وجوهره المثير للجدل بحيث يسلط الضوء على دوافع استخدام التباين النمطي وتأثيره على تركيب ونقل المعنى الاجتماعي.
