Before Isaac Newton became the father of physics, an accomplished mathematician, or a leader of the scientific revolution, he was a boy living in an apothecary's house, observing and experimenting, recording his observations of the world in a tiny notebook. As a young genius living in a time before science as we know it existed, Isaac studied the few books he could get his hands on, built handmade machines, and experimented with alchemy--a process of chemical reactions that seemed, at the time, to be magical.
Westworld Rumors Unfounded
1986
In May, Westworld Community Health-care was rated by California Business as one of the state's fastest growing companies in terms of sales. But by midsummer, after a disappointing first quarter for the Lake Forest-headquartered conglomerate, rumors of disaster surfaced. Did California Business have egg all over its statistics? Was Westworld, one of the nation's largest providers of rural health care services, about to hemorrhage? As with Mark Twain, the reports of Westworld's demise may be greatly exaggerated. Company officials assert that nothing is wrong beyond some minor short-term problems. Wall Street analysts, who follow Westworld's fortunes, confirm this view, predicting that the company's year-end revenues will show a strong 56% increase over 1985. (excerpt)
