Parakeets Goldfish Rabbits Ponies (Pet Care)
The initial six volumes in the \"Pet Care\" series dealt with some common household pets: puppies, kittens, hamsters, gerbils, mice and guinea pigs. The subjects of the next four volumes fly, swim, hop or run, and while three of the creatures are familiar pets, one, the pony, exists more often as a dream pet. Like the first half dozen books, this quartet of volumes maintains the series' formata brief, highly readable and generously illustrated text packed into just 32 pages. As well, the general structure of the content, which was established in the initial volumes, is also continued. As noted in the initial review of books in this series, the books' second section is likely the books' most important. The reader's responses to its contents should be carefully evaluated before any pet is purchased because it asks the potential pet buyer a most crucial question: [Is this] \"The right pet for you?\" In addition to describing the qualities possessed by the particular pet (Rabbits are cute loving animals. It is fun to watch them hop around!), this section also sets out the general expectations of the owner: Caring for your rabbit can be a lot of work, though. Pet rabbits reply on people for food and exercise every day. You and your family will also have to groom, or clean your rabbit and clean its cage. The section concludes with a checklist that is modified for each pet type: Assuming that the acquisition of a pet is still a \"go,\" the next section enlarges the choices available to the new pet owner by briefly describing some of the various breeds of the pet. For instance, \"Plenty of ponies!\" provides illustrations of four types of ponies, the Pinto, Baskir, Shetland and Haflinger, while \"Goldfish breeds\" reveals that there are over 100 breeds of goldfish, but they all belong to one of two types, ordinary or fancy goldfish. Two goldfish from each type are then illustrated.
Extreme Snowboarding (Extreme Sports, No Limits)
The book provides a complete overview to snowboarding. It gives the reader information about the various types of boarding, the equipment and competitions. The book has many bright captions and exciting pictures. The authors have provided the information in short bits making it an easy book to browse through and find just the details that you may be looking for. Snowboarding has its own culture that includes unique lingo that is clearly defined for the beginner. Besides introducing the basics, the book goes on to introduce some big names in the sport.

Food chains (Ecology)Juvenile literature. Part of the eight-volume \"Food Chains\" series, these books, averaging 14 chapters each, are designed to introduce various habitats and the food chains and webs within them. Each of the titles begins with an explanation of the featured habitat, followed by three chapters of general information describing food chains, the energy pyramid (or levels of a food chain) and how plants produce food by means of the sun's energy. This information is almost identical in all four titles (the text is merely paraphrased), the only difference being the illustrations of the plants and animals which make up the food chains in the particular habitat. With the exception of a few scientific terms, such as \"primary producers\" or \"secondary consumers,\" the large print text is simple and kid friendly. A brief glossary and an index are provided. The illustrations consist of excellent colour photographs, maps and diagrams, all suitably labeled. (Teachers familiar with [Bobbie Kalman]'s books might recognize some of the photos which have been \"recycled\" from previous titles.) Bands, comprised of tiny pictures of the plants and animals pertaining to the habitat, appear across the top of each page, unifying both the text and the series.
