Newbery Medal Acceptance Speech Of Kites, Moles, and Other Interesting True Stories
2008
The author narrates three stories about playground duty, a kite, and having her moles removed. The stories were told as part of her acceptance speech for winning the 2008 Newberry Medal for her book Good Masters! Sweet Ladies! Voices from a Medieval Village. The first story is about a girl named Tessa, whom the author helped to come down from the playhouse roof where she was stuck. The second story is about flying a kite in the air and how it is similar to winning the Newberry Medal. The third story is about her decision to have her moles in her forehead removed, which left her with a scar. Adapted from the source document.
