The globemakers : the curious story of an ancient craft
Peter Bellerby is the founder of Bellerby & Co. Globemakers, the world's only truly bespoke makers of globes. His team of skilled craftspeople make exquisite terrestrial, celestial and planetary globes for customers around the world. The story began after his attempt to find a special globe for his father's 80th birthday. Failing to find anything suitable, he decided to make one himself which took him on an extraordinary journey of rediscovering this forgotten craft. The chapters of The Globemakers take us through the journey of how to build a globe, or 'earth apples' as they were first known, and includes fascinating vignettes on history, art history, astronomy and physics, as well as the day-to-day craftsmanship at the workshop itself. This book uses illustration, photography and narrative to tell the story of our globe and many different globes it has inspired.

Bellerby, Karl
2009
Like the proverbial buses, something that rarely happens has now occurred twice in consecutive weekends with Boldon CA's Karl Bellerby following directly in Calvin Stephenson's footsteps to achieve the perfect bowling performance. The Silks were not so smooth when they faced up to Bellerby's blistering bombardment that had them back in the shed with just 67 to their name. The final figures read 14 overs, 3 maidens, 10 for 37 - the first time Bellerby had achieved the rare feat in his career. [Jonny Wightman] ending with 5-55. When [Boldon] replied young Joe Coyne (70) joined Chris Ellison (38) in blunting Kelbert Walter's effectiveness, the opening base they established enabling Boldon to ease to a fivewicket victory.

SAVE OUR STARS
2009
At the group's observatory two miles from Newton Stewart, Robin Bellerby said: \"So much light encroaches on our skies that most people don't even bother to look up any more. But here, miles from any city, you can see so many stars and planets that youcouldn't even begin to count. Robin, 67, said: \"Some people might think we're mad but they've probably never seen the beauty of the night sky. \"Lights that beam up dramatically reduce the magic of what we can see and if we're not careful we won't see anything but the very brightest planets. It's so important to preserve this beauty.\"

Was Russell a hit-run victim?
2008
Russell Bellerby, 25, was found lying in the road with serious head and other injuries outside the Brunton Arms, in Stainton Way near its junction with Cypress Road, Middlesbrough, on December 22 last year. Her husband Reg added: \"When we look at how far Russell has come - he started the year in huge amounts of pain and could not even eat - we are thankful for his recovery. However, we still have plenty of questions surrounding what took place last Christmas - somebody, somewhere must have seen something and we are appealing to them to come forward. Fran Mayes, partner and brain injury specialist, said: \"From the damage to Mr Bellerby's clothing and the injuries he has sustained, we are in no doubt that he was struck by a vehicle.\"

Wind farm challenges
2008
Mr [Frank Bellerby] had initially sought to have \"turbine 29\" removed, but experts said that without it the whole project would be uneconomic. \"We sought legal opinion and they thought we had good case,\" he said. \"This will materially affect our business.\" In their decision, the commissioners acknowledged that the Hidden Valley Luxury Retreat was likely to suffer adverse effects, with the wind farm \"unlikely to be consistent with the style and objective of the activity currently being developed by its owner-operator\".

A shoplifter's haul in just one stop
2008
[Anthony Bellerby], 25, of Newton Road, High Heaton, Newcastle, admitted theft at the store at Moor Farm roundabout in Cramlington on March 5, when he appeared before magistrates at Bedlington by video link from prison. Magistrates gave Bellerby a 16-week jail sentence and told him that an aggravating feature of the case was that he was already out of prison on licence when he carried out the theft. Bellerby watched the proceedings via a video link from Durham jail where he is presently an inmate.
