The governance of traditional medicine and herbal remedies in the selected local markets of Western Kenya
Background A lot of emphasis is often placed on modern governance systems and little or no attention is given to traditional governance practices which remain largely undocumented. The study aimed at finding out important traditional and modern governance practices that regulate traditional medicine sector in Western Kenya. Materials and methods The study was carried out in selected market centres of Western Kenya where the identified traditional medicine practitioners (TMPs) sell their traditional medicine. All consenting TMPs and professional experts were interviewed with the aid of a semi-structured questionnaire. Purposive sampling design with elements of snowball techniques was employed in tracing competent traditional medicine (TM) experts and relevant professional experts. The data collected was processed in Microsoft Excel and descriptive statistics performed. Pearson’s chi-square statistics was carried out to determine the significance of the traditional and modern governance data sets using the STATA software. Results Modern governance practices were not significantly different in all the market centres surveyed ( p = 0.080). Equally, the traditional governance practices were also not significantly different in all the selected market centres ( p = 1.000). Conclusions Traditional governance practices play an important role in the governance of traditional medicine and are shaped by the socio-cultural beliefs of the local communities. Modern governance practices, on the other hand, are widely perceived as top downregulation of the traditional medicine growing industry.
IT Governance Practices in the Gulf Cooperation Council Region
The adoption of IT governance (ITG) frameworks in organizations worldwide, along with the subsequent need to comply with regulations and standards, has placed ITG implementation decisions firmly with the boards and executives of organizations. With diverse board and executive level cultures evident in various parts of the world, the adoption of ITG frameworks depends on the ITG practices followed in each cultural context. Through an online survey, this study thus examines the existing ITG practices through the structures, processes and relational mechanisms (SPR) practices model, followed by senior management in the GCC region. In this respect, this study evaluates effective baseline ITG practices at the board and executive levels and suggests ITG structures, processes, and relational mechanisms that ITG consultants in the Gulf Co-operation Council region can follow for effective ITG implementation.

Governance Practices in Platform Ecosystems: Navigating Tensions Between Cocreated Value and Governance Costs
Based on an exploratory multiple-case study in two platform ecosystems, we develop a process theory that explains how and why different ways of practicing ecosystem-wide governance are more or less successful in navigating the tension between cocreated value and governance costs. Our process theory shows that how ecosystem-wide rules and values are practiced considerably varies and changes over time. Initially, governance practices follow ecosystem-wide rules; if and how practices shift toward going beyond the rules hinges on specific necessary conditions. Irrespective of which governance route is taken, the tension between cocreated value and governance costs is more successfully addressed if practices are sensitive to ecosystem-wide values. The impact of strategic management on the competitive performance of Ethiopian premier league soccer clubs
Introduction: Sport governance encompasses the strategic direction and organizational functioning essential to the success of sport entities worldwide, including clubs, national bodies and professional teams. Aim: This study examines the relationship between strategic management practices and the performance of Ethiopian men's soccer premier league clubs. Methods: The study employed a correlational research design with a sample of 118 participants, including managers, coaches, administrative personnel, and Ethiopian Premier League (EL) players. Data were collected via stratified random sampling and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics (e.g., regression, ANOVA, Pearson’s correlation). Result: Results indicate that strategic management practices significantly impact organizational performance, explaining 37.8% of variance in club revenue (R² = .378) and 43.5% of variance in customer satisfaction (R² = .435). Conclusion: Strategic management practices are positively and significantly correlated with organizational performance, highlighting the importance of governance in terms of enhancing revenue and customer satisfaction among soccer clubs.
Corporate social responsibility of multinational corporations in developing countries : perspectives on anti-corruption

Succession planning in family firms
This study builds on implementation intention theory to indicate that both business and family governance practices influence the succession planning process in family firms. In addition, this study draws on goal adjustment theory to explore whether the family CEO’s emotions, being his or her inability to let go of the family firm, hamper the governance decisions of the board of directors concerning that succession planning process. Applying a moderated mediation analysis on a sample of 225 family firms, results show that board involvement in the succession process mediates the positive relationship between the use of family governance practices and the level of succession planning. In addition, the family CEO’s inability to let go negatively moderates this mediating relationship which signifies that emotions influence governance outcomes in family firms.
