Eighteen newspapers have cancelled Lynn Johnston's comic strip For Better or For Worse due to the strip's gay-themed storyline, according to Universal Press Syndicate, the strip's distributor. Many other papers have requested reruns of the comic, which they may publish in place of the controversial Mar 26-Apr 24, 1993, sequence. Universal Press VP and editorial Dir Lee Salem said that, in his opinion, Johnston handled the storyline well.
