2024
This study aims to investigate the effects of Strategic Management Accounting (SMA) on sustainable performance consisting of economic, environmental, and social performance. A questionnaire was utilized to collect primary data through a survey approach. This study includes as samples 187 green manufacturing companies in Thailand with green industry certifications from the Department of Industrial Works of Thailand. The statistical software was applied to implement the structural equation model. The results show that the causal relationship model fit to the empirical data was at an acceptable level. SMA has a significant positive direct effect on economic, environmental, and social performance. Moreover, environmental and social performance act in a partial mediating role in the relationship between SMA and economic performance. The findings also reveal that the three components of sustainable performance have causal relationships. In dealing with dynamic changes in the business environment, decision-making based on SMA information can be more proactive. The implementation and adoption of SMA techniques are known to be limited in emerging economies, with little information available on adoption and integration. The results of previous investigation are also inconclusive.

This study aims to determine the role of entrepreneurial orientation in mediating Minangkabau Universal Leadership and the performance of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Padang, West Sumatra, Indonesia. Minangkabau Universal Leadership is used as an antecedent to represent traditional type leadership in West Sumatra that consists of three values: custom, religious, and intellectual. This leadership type was found more suitable to implement in this research because West Sumatra is a unique province with an esteemed culture that is still used and held by its people nowadays. During the pandemic era (in 2020), there were lots of new businesses in a small and medium scale that were established in Padang, West Sumatra, Indonesia. Based on purposive sampling techniques, this study uses 180 small and medium businesses as a sample. The criteria of respondents are based on the type of business, the ownership, number of employees, year of establishment, and profit in a year. The data was collected through questionnaires from 2021 to 2022. Each of the businesses is represented by a respondent. After the hypotheses were tested using SEM-PLS, the study found that Minangkabau Universal Leadership has a positive and significant influence on business performance. Hence, entrepreneurial orientation was found to mediate the relationship between Minangkabau Universal Leadership and business performance.

The major aim of the study is to examine the impact of Digital Collaboration (DC) and Analytics Capability (AC) on Supply Chain Resilience (SCRES). The study used data gathered from senior managers of the food processing industry in Jordan using a self-reported questionnaire designed and distributed to a purposive sample via email. A purposive sample consisted of 200 managers. To achieve the aim of the study, Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with Partial Least Squares (PLS) was used for analysis. Responses used in data analysis composed 71% of the distributed questionnaires. The study results supported the hypotheses that AC has positive significant effects on DC and visibility of the SCRES while DC shows significant effects on velocity and flexibility of the supply chain. The study contributes to the body of knowledge on Resource-based view (RBV) and Supply chain literature by emphasizing that the AC between companies is a key antecedent of DC as well as AC and DC are crucial prerequisites for organizations to improve their performance by supporting the resilience of their supply chains. In light of the study results, managers and decision-makers need to prioritize and invest in improving their AC and fostering DC due to their impact on SCRES, which is especially critical considering the increasing challenges that organizations are currently facing, the increasing state of uncertainty in the external environment, and the limited ability of organizations to predict their ability to obtain the resources and production inputs they need.In today’s dynamic and unpredictable business environment, the importance of supply chain resilience, analytics capability, and digital collaboration cannot be overstated. These elements serve as the backbone of organizations striving to thrive in an era marked by rapid technological advancements, global connectivity, and unforeseen disruptions, such as the recent global health crisis. Our article delves into the critical intersection of these three vital components and their profound impact on the sustainability and success of modern businesses. We seek to contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the field of supply chain management. Our findings aim to benefit practitioners, researchers, policymakers, and the broader public by promoting more resilient, efficient, and sustainable supply chains. In doing so, we hope to inspire organizations to embrace the transformative potential of analytics capability and digital collaboration, ultimately strengthening supply chain resilience in an increasingly interconnected world.

The effect of empowering leadership practices on employees performance with the mediating role of work engagement: the case of ethio-telecom
2024
The main purpose of this study was to examine the effect of empowering leadership practices on employee performance, and the mediating role of work engagement, as emphasized at Ethio-Telecom. Drawing on social exchange theory and self-determination theory, this study reports the responses of 214 participants from Ethio-telecom sales representatives operating in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. This thesis is structured around a quantitative research approach with a simple probability sampling technique. Structural equation modeling (SEM) with AMOS was used to test the hypothesized relations. The descriptive result showed that there is a lack of empowering leadership practices and that the work engagement level of employees is at its lowest level. Besides, the results of the hypothesized relationships revealed that empowering leadership practices have a significant positive effect on employee performance. It has also been found that empowering leadership has a significant positive effect on work engagement. Moreover, the results of the bias-corrected bootstrapping iteration showed that work engagement partially mediates the relationship between empowering leadership practices and employee performance. Finally, the practical and theoretical contributions, limitations, and future studies are discussed.Nowadays, business leadership is moving from the traditional structure to empowered, self-managing work teams to increase the flexibility and efficiency of their operations. The goal of empowerment leadership is to enable workers to make decisions for themselves through empowerment rather than through micromanaging or direct management. Under this approach, workers and teams have greater autonomy and a stronger sense of togetherness from their leaders, who accept the good and bad implications of their actions. Company leaders need to make work more meaningful by empowering their teams through delegation, efficacy support, inspiration, and coordination, encouraging them to take ownership of their work and make independent decisions, which enables them to boost employee job performance. Moreover, leaders need to consider letting their employees be engaged in their work, which contributes to much better employee job performance, which is a predictor of company performance.

Stewardship : lessons learned from the lost culture of Wall Street
\"A compelling argument for why stewardship of wealth and service to others should be our highest financial priority. Stewardship is the journey of financial insider John Taft towards understanding and affirming the importance of stewardship--which he has come to define as \"serving others\"--as a core principle for the financial services industry, the global financial system, and society at large. By defining the attributes of authentic stewardship, this book presents a path forward by analyzing the success of Canadian banks in weathering the financial crisis; evaluates the effectiveness of global financial reform efforts in making the financial system safer, sounder, and more secure; offers wealth management prescriptions for individual investors; evaluates the potential of ESG (environmental, social, and governance) investment processes as a way to instill stewardship behaviors among corporate CEOs (particularly at financial services firms); and, ultimately, calls for a return to stewardship's core principles as the key to not only minimizing the scope and consequences of future failures, but also to addressing other societal challenges. Argues for a return towards stewardship, with financial services companies doing right by their customers. Analyzes the response of Canadian banks to the financial crisis to provide meaningful advice for investors and businesses alike. Inspired by Taft's experience running one of the largest wealth management firms in the country during the financial crisis and his direct participation in subsequent legislative and regulatory efforts to rewrite the rules under which the U.S. securities industry operates. From the man who made the unprecedented decision to reimburse clients affected by the collapse of a money market mutual fund comes a compelling look at why financial service companies should start doing what's right for their customers\"-- Provided by publisher.

Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the informal sector are key in determining economic growth, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. However, data on the moderating effect of network ties on the association between SMEs’ entrepreneurial orientation (EO) and performance are limited, particularly in Ghana. Guided by resource-based and network theories, this study examines the moderating role of network ties in the association between EO and firm performance among SMEs in Ghana. Data were obtained from 201 SME owner-managers through face-to-face questionnaire administration. Regressions showed that EO components (proactiveness, innovativeness, risk-taking propensity, and competitive aggressiveness) were significantly associated with the performance of SMEs. Interactions revealed that network ties significantly influenced entrepreneurial orientation and SMEs’ performance associations. The network ties of SME owner-managers appeared to be a significant and positive moderator of the EO and SME performance link. Therefore, entrepreneurial orientation and network ties are important managerial resource capabilities needed for business survival in the informal sector. The study used a sample of 201 small and medium enterprises (SMEs) owners and managers to understand the contribution of network relations to the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation (being innovative, taking risk, engaging in competition, being autonomous, and proactive) and the performance of SMEs. We found that being innovative, taking risks, being competitive, and proactive improved SME performance. Social and business relationships established by SME owners and managers are also important in understanding the effect of entrepreneurial orientation on performance of SMEs.
