Overview
ينقسم الكتاب إلى اثنى عشر فصل حيث يتناول المؤلف في الفصلين الأول والثاني نشأة محمد علي وثورة القاهرة والحملة الإنجليزية على مصر والدفاع عن مصر قبل وصول محمد علي، وأما الفصل الثالث يتحدث فيه عن الحملة المصرية في شبه الجزيرة العربية ثم الفصل الرابع يتناول فتح السودان وأسباب الفتح والحملة وفي الفصل الخامس يحكي ميلاد الجيش المصرى وفي الفصلين السادس والسابع يتناول حملة شبه جزيرة المورة، والجيش بين حربى المورة والشام وفي الفصلين الثامن والتاسع يتناول التعليم العسكري والجيش بعد 1831، ثم يتحدث عن حملة الشام في الفصل العاشر وفى الفصل الحادى عشر يتناول المؤلف الدفاع الساحلي في أيام محمد على الكبير وأخيرا الفصل الثاني عشر يتحدث عن الجيش فى أيامه الأخيرة.
