هذا الكتاب عبارة عن شرح مبسط للقصائد السبع المشهورات التي علقت على جدار الكعبة لأهميتها وبذلك سميت المعلقات وهن للشعراء امرىء القيس، طرفة بن العبد، زهير بن أبي سلمى، لبيد بن ربيعة، عمرو بن كلثوم، عنترة بن شداد، الحارث بن حلزة البشكري ومؤلف هذا الشرح علم من أعلام اللغة المبرزين ممن حازوا شهرة فائقة في اللغة والأدب والنحو وهو القاضي الحسين بن أحمد الزوزني.
