يعتبر شرح عروض ابن الحاجب، لبدر الدين الحسن بن قاسم المرادي من الشروح المهمة جدا، لما احتوى عليه الشرح من تعريف بالمصطلحات العروضية وبحور الشعر العربي، وصوره النظرية والتطبيق عليها بالأبيات الشعرية، كما قام بتعريف القافية بأنواعها وحركاتها وعيوبها، كل ذلك بلا تطويل ممل ولا إيجاز مخل، فهو يركز على توضيح الجانب العروضي فقط ولم يتعرض لشرح المفردات اللغوية لهذة المنظومة أو للأبيات التي يستشهد بها، كما لم يقم بإعراب لها أو للأبيات المستشهد بها.
