ينطلق هذا الكتاب من رؤية موسعة للتاريخ العربي في الزمان كما هي في المكان. فالمكان أو الرقعة الجغرافية التي ينتشر عليها الوطن العربي يمتد من المحيط إلى الخليج العربي، ويضم إحدى وعشرين دولة-كما هو معروف. ولكن الزمان الذي يشكل التاريخ العربي ما يزال موضع خلاف فالبعض يعود به إلى فترة قصيرة تسبق الإسلام، يسميها الجاهلية، والآخر يرجع إلى حقب طويلة تواكب نشوء الحضارات في هذه المنطقة من العالم.
