يتحدث هذا الكتاب عن جمال الغيطاني ولد في 9 مايو 1945 في قرية جهينة محافظة جرجا محافظة سوهاج حاليا، ونشأ في القاهرة القديمة حيث عاشت الأسرة في منطقة الجمالية استطاع الغيطاني أن يعمل كرسام في المؤسسة المصرية العامة للتعاون الإنتاجي حيث استمر بالعمل مع المؤسسة إلى عام 196 وفي عام 1974 انتقل للعمل في قسم التحقيقات الصحفية وبعد أحدى عشر عاما في 1985 تمت ترقيته ليصبح رئيسا للقسم الأدبي بأخبار اليوم، وكتب أول قصة قصيرة عام 1959 ونشر أول قصة له في يوليو 1963 وعنوانها (زيارة) في مجلة الأديب اللبنانية وكتب ثلاث روايات في الفترة من 1963 و1968.
