هذا الكتاب محاولة جادة للتغلل في نسيج النص الشعري بعد أن جعلتنا الكثير من المناهج النقدية الحديثة نطوف حول النص دون اختراق بنيته، هذه البنية التي أعطته هويته وميزته من سواه من النصوص الأخرى وكتبت له الخلود كل هذه السنين ويظل المتنبي بين شعراء العربية-قدماء ومحدثين-علما بارزا ومعماريا فذا يبهرنا بما شاده من روائع ظلت عنوانا للإبداع الفني الذي لا تنال من جدته السنين مهما تطاولت وقد تناول المؤلف تفسير أبياته الشعرية مستعرضين محتويات الكتاب كما يلي : الفصل الأول : قصيدته في عتاب سيف الدولة، الفصل الثاني : قصيدته في مدح كافور، الفصل الثالث : قصيدته في هجاء كافور، ثم انتهى بقائمة المراجع.
