وبالرغم من أن توفيق الحكيم جعل عنوان مسرحيته «إيزيس»، إلا أن الصراع الرئيسي في المسرحية لم يكن له علاقة بإيزيس سوى أن «سيت» (سمَّاه توفيق الحكيم «طوفيون» كالأسطورة اليونانية) قتل زوجها أوزوريس وتعتبر مسرحية إيزيس التي كتبها توفيق الحكيم خير مثل على ذلك وفي بيانه الأخير في نهاية المسرحية المنشورة يؤكد توفيق الحكيم على أن الصورة المميزة لإيزيس هي الوفاء الزوجي، وأن بين شهرزاد وإيزيس وشائج الشبه في علاقة كل منهما بزوجها؛ «كلتاهما قد فعلت شيئا مجيدا لزوجها.» وكذلك أيضا «بنيلوب» اليونانية. لكن الوفاء الزوجي عند بنيلوب كان في رأيه وفاء سلبيا؛ لأنها اكتفت بالجلوس في بيتها تنتظر عودة زوجها وتنسج ثوبها المشهور، لكن وفاء إيزيس كان (في رأيه) إيجابيا.
