يعرض الكتاب موجزا تاريخيا للهجرة السكانية للفلسطينيين إلى أوروبا، ويسوق الحجج على وجود شتات فلسطيني في أوروبا حاليا في وضع تكويني مركب. والكتاب محاولة لدراسة الخصائص الديمغرافية والاجتماعية للجوالي الفلسطينية في الدول الأوروبية ولرصد عناصر التكيف في المجتمعات الجديدة. ويتضمن معلومات عن أعداد الفلسطينيين في الدول الأوروبية ويقدم أفكارا ورؤى بخصوص وضع الجوالي الفلسطينية، كما يستقصي أنماط هجرة الفلسطينيين إلى أوروبا وأسبابها. ويعتبر الكتاب من الدراسات القليلة في هذا الحقل وهو من الكتب التأسيسية في تاريخ الهجرات الفلسطينية. وقد شارك فيه ثلاثة عشر باحثا وباحثة يعملون في مجال علم الاجتماع ودراسات اللاجئين وحقوق الإنسان.
