Overview
Your headline, \"An overdue thank you\" was most appropriate. The Philippines' behavior toward the Jews was especially remarkable because the Philippines has such a strong Catholic influence. The gentleness of the Filipinos and their willingness to embrace such odd people who came from a foreign place, speaking unusual languages and practicing a strange religion, gives them a special place in our hearts. As a nation they rose to the occasion, placing humanity above religious bias. The Philippines had absolutely nothing to gain by its assistance and generosity, yet it is responsible for offering to save more lives then Schindler and faced the immigrants with arms outstretched while the rest of the world turned its back.
