He was a good football player who could knock the stuffing out of a player, but at the same time, he was really nice to everybody.\" Fort Lauderdale's Anne Marie Walters garnered the silver medal at this year's Veterans World Fencing Championships in Porec, Croatia. \"I was volunteering at a YMCA in Maryland, and I decided to enter a competition,\" Walters said. \"I did so well that I decided to return to the sport. I was told that there was a veterans' team and that I could make it. I didn't know what to expect, so I've been quite happy with what I've been able to do.\"
