في الكتاب مجموعة من القصص كتبها الأديب و من هذه القصص قصة وائل يبحث عن وطنه الكبير يجسد فيها الكاتب قصة طفولته ويهدي هذه القصة إلى أطفال الوطن العربي وهي وقائع وأحداث من طفولة الكاتب لا أثر للخيال فيها ومن مرفأ الذاكرة مراكب خمسة ما زلت أشعر أنها هي التي حملتني إلى هذا مرفأ يحاول الكاتب ألأن يلقي الضوء عليها من خلال الصفحات التي يسردها في تلك الصفحات وتلك المراكب هي اللغة والأرض وأنا وهي والحلم والأطفال وتحت عنوان البدايات يتحدث الكاتب عن أن تلك البدايات لم تكن إيديولوجيا ولا سياسة بل كانت بحثا عن الهوية.
