صدرت ضمن روايات الهلال بالقاهرة رواية \"الليلة الأخيرة في حياة محمود سعيد\" للشاعر والروائي أحمد فضل شبلول، وقد نجح في تضمين متخيله الروائي ما توفر له من وثائق ومعلومات وبيانات تتعلق بشخص الفنان محمود سعيد الفنان التشكيلي المصري، المولود في الثامن من أبريل / نيسان عام 1897 والمتوفى في اليوم نفسه ولكن في عام 1964، مورثا تجربة رائدة فريدة في الفن التشكيلي. وقد اصطفاه أحمد فضل شبلول لأن يكون الراوي لأحداث اليوم قبل الأخير من حياته أي يوم 7 أبريل / نسان 1964، من خلال رواية تتكون من ستة عشر رقما، تبدأ بالرقم 16 وتنتهي بالرقم 1 وكأنه يشير إلى تناقص الزمن الدنيوي للإنسان، فيقل من 16 وصولا إلى 1.
