المؤلفة بنجالية مسلمة، كتبت هذه الرواية في سبعة أيام فقط تحت وطأة الضغط النفسي الذي عاشته بعدما قام مسلمون في بنجلاديش بالهجوم على الهندوس في بلادها ردا على قيام هندوس هنود بحرق مسجد في الهند، وكتبت في المقدمة أن الرواية تهدف الى رفض الطائفية والتعصب واستخدام الدين كوسيلة للعدوان إلا أن هذه السطور لم ترحمها من الحمم التي سقطت عليها بعد أيام من صدور الرواية.
