Overview
Turkiye has long been recognised for its fertile lands, diverse agricultural landscape and strategic geographic location. Turkiye’s agricultural sector is diverse, encompassing a wide range of crops, livestock and agribusiness activities, presenting significant opportunities for investors in Turkiye’s agriculture sector. Although Turkiye's earthquake in February 2023 and drought conditions over 2022-2023 have caused disruptions in agricultural activities and supply chains, including crop production, we hold a generally positive outlook for the Turkish agribusiness sector's production and consumption in 2024. The livestock and grains sectors have displayed steady production growth potential, and we expect a steady uptrend over the medium term for consumption amid a recovery in real incomes and population growth. However, the continued depreciation of the lira against the US dollar, Turkiye's reliance on imported feed, rising feed and other input costs complicate the business environment.
