Overview
هذه الرائعة الموسوعية تسمى صبح الأعشى، وهي من تأليف العالم المصري أحمد القلقشندي (1355 أو 1356-1418) الذي عاش في العصور الوسطى، وقد ألفها لأمناء دواوين سلاطين مصر، ولطالما أولى العلماء عناية كبيرة بالمعلومات الموجودة بين طيات الكتاب لما تحتويه من مواضيع ثقافية وأدبية متنوعة، مثل تاريخ مصر وتاريخ سوريا والسكان غير المسلمين في العالم الإسلامي وتكوين الدول وإدارتها وفن الخط والمكتبات وحتى الرموز والشفرات. وكذلك تناول العلماء بالبحث والتحليل النقدي بنية العمل نفسه ومصادره، واستحسن الكثيرون ترتيبه اليسير. فعناوينه الرئيسية والفرعية العديدة تسهًّل تصفحه، بالرغم من أنه ليس به فهرس عام بالمفهوم الحديث. والكتاب ليس مجرد مختارات أدبية، ولكنه يضم الشعر، والنثر بشكل خاص، وذلك منذ بداية ظهور الإسلام وحتى زمن المؤلف.
