يضم الكتاب مجموعة من المقالات التي نشرتها باحثة البادية في صحيفة \"الجريدة\"، حول قضايا اجتماعية عديدة ومتنوعة، منها ما يتعلق بقضية بقضية المرأة مباشرة، ومنها ما يتطرق إلى الوضع الاجتماع العام ؛ ومن ثم فهي تناقش قضايا الحجاب والسفور والزواج والطلاق والعلاقات بين الزوجين، وما يتفرع عنها من أمور قانونية واجتماعية ونفسية، كذلك قضايا تربية المرأة وتعليمها مع عقد المقارنات بين المرأة الشرقية والغربية، أما الجزء الثاني فيضم مجموعة من المكتبات بينها وبين الأديبة مي زيادة، بالإضافة إلى فعاليات ندوة مرور سبع سنوات على رحيلها. وقد أسهمت مقالات هذا الكتاب بصورة كبيرة في تطور الصحافة النسائية، كما أرخت لبدايات النهضة النسائية التي كتبت بأقلام سيدات مصريات في العصر الحديث.
