الكتاب يتضمن خمسة عشر فصلا وكل فصل يحتوي على موضوعات مفيدة وأفرع متنوعة حيث بدأ المؤلف بعائلة المجموعة الشمسية وهي النظام الكوكبي الذي يتكون من الشمس وجميع ما يدور حولها من أجرام بما في ذلك الأرض والكواكب الأخرى ويشمل النظام الشمسي أجراما أخرى أصغر حجما هي الكواكب القزمة والكويكبات والنيازك والمذنبات إضافة إلى سحابة رقيقة من الغاز والغبار تعرف بالوسط بين الكوكبي كما توجد توابع الكواكب التي تسمى الأقمار وذكر الكتاب أن القمر يدور حول الأرض في مدار شبه بيضاوي الشكل وبحركة كوكبية تكون من الغرب باتجاه الشرق وهو ما يعرف بأسم الشهر القمري ثم تحدث الكتاب عن الكواكب الصخرية.
