تتتبع هذه الدراسة أوضاع النازحين الفلسطينيين منذ اقتلاعهم من وطنهم، مفصلة نشوء وتطور المؤسسات الاجتماعية والسياسية التي كانت في منزلة القاعدة التي انطلقت منها الحركة الوطنية الفلسطينية مجدداً. وتركز الدراسة، بصورة خاصة، على تطور المؤسسات في صفوف الطلاب والمعلمين والعمال والنساء بين أوساط الجوالي الفلسطينية في ثلاث دول عربية لجأ إليها الفلسطينيون بعد حرب 1948، وهي الأردن ومصر والكويت.
