يقع الكتاب في 160 صفحة من القطع المتوسط، ويتضمن سبعة فصول، ويبدأ الكاتب أول فصول كتابه بمعجزة المعمار الإسلامي تاج محل، ويسرد تفصيلا قصة الحبيبين التي انتهت ببنائه، ويناقش الكاتب في بقية فصول الكتاب كل ما يتعلق بالقبور من مختلف النواحي الاقتصادية والاجتماعية والسياسية، ويدخل بنا بعد ذلك إلى مناقشة مشكلة الازدحام السكاني الشديد وامتلاء الأحواش والقبور، وكيف أن في القاهرة لا يكاد يفصل بين المباني والمقابر، وكيف أصبح الإنسان المصري يتعامل مع المقابر في حياته اليومية، وفي ختام كتابه يناقش الكاتب كيف خلد الفراعنة أنفسهم ببناء الأهرامات.
