يتطرق الكتاب إلى الحديث عن الانتقادات التي وجهت إلى كتب ابن حزم بشكل عام وكتابه المحلى بشكل خاص كما فيه تتبع لبعض الأوهام التي وقع فيها هذا الإمام مستندين في ذلك إلى كلام الأئمة والنقاد ثم إلى ما تقتضيه قواعد النقد الحديثي خاصة حيث أن النقد سوف يوجه إلى أوهام ابن حزم في الرجال فقد كان لثقته بحفظه يتسرع ويهجم في الحكم على الرجال تعديلا وتجريحا فيقع له بذلك أوهام شنيعة وكذلك في أوهامه في التصحيح والتضعيف للأحاديث النبوية الشريفة.
