يحتل هذا الكتاب جزأين: الأول منهما \"تكوين النص\" يأتي في وصف لنشأة النصوص الأصولية وتطورها في محاولة للتعرف على بنيتها كبديل عن الفصول التمهيدية التاريخية التقليدية خارج النص وأما الجزء الثاني \"بنية النص\" فإذا كان الجزء الأول \"تكوين النص\" هو أقرب إلى الشكل منه إلى المضمون لمعرفة كيفية تكوين النص باعتبارها شكلا، فإن \"بنية النص\" هو أقرب إلى المضمون منه إلى الشكل لمعرفة بنية النص خارج الشكل وخارج اللغة إلى بنية الشعور في علاقته بالعالم، فالشعور شعور بشيء، والوجود وجود في العالم. وفي هذا الجزء تم التعامل مع النصوص وحدها دون الشروح والملخصات لأنه يتعامل مع أفكار ونصوص أولى وليس مع تفاصيل نصوص ثانية.
