هذا الكتاب يطبع لأول مرة، بعد أن كان يظن أنه من الكتب المفقودة، وتأتي أهميته من خلال كونه أقدم كتاب يطبع حتى الآن من المؤلفات في الأحاديث الإلهية، والمعروفة بالأحاديث القدسية. ولاقتصار مؤلفه على الأحاديث الصحيحة فقط، مما أخرجه البخاري ومسلم أو أحدهما، ولكون الكتاب من تأليف إمام حافظ مشهور، وهو الحافظ ابن المفضل المقدسي. وقد عثر المحقق وفقه الله على نسخة خطية وحيدة للكتاب، وحرص على إثبات النص كما أراده مؤلفه، قدر الإمكان، وخرج الأحاديث من الصحيحين، وغيرهما عند الحاجة، وقدم للكتاب بدراسة وافية عن المؤلف وكتابه.
