هذا الكتاب هو كتاب جليل القدر وقد جاء فريدا في تأليفه إذ ذكر فيه ثلاثة علوم تهم الرجل المسلم فابتدأ بالفقه في باب العبادات ثم العقائد والفرق الإسلامية ثم الأخلاق والآداب الإسلامية والمواعظ الحسنة المأخوذة من القرآن والسنة وهذا الكتاب إذ هو لإمام من أئمة التصوف يبين الوجه الصحيح للصوفية الحقة الملتزمة بالكتاب والسنة فمن أراد أن يعرف حقيقة الصوفية المستقيمة فليقرأ هذا الكتاب وعلى الكتاب حواشي في تخريج الأحاديث.
