الغزالي كأرسطو من أعلام الفكر الإنساني الذين بلغوا في حياتهم وبعد وفاتهم ارفع مكانة بين الناس فكان طبيعيا أن تتعاون الحقيقة والأسطورة معا على إيجاد هذه المكانة لما فطر عليه الناس من نسبة جلائل الأعمال إلى من يظفرون بالشهرة والمجد ولو لم يكن من أصحابها لهذا نسب إلى الغزالي كما نسب إلى أرسطو حشد هائل من المؤلفات ما ألقي على المؤرخين والباحثين مئونة شاقة ألا وهي التمييز بين الصحيح منها والمنحول وهو أمر تعوزه المعاير الدقيقة الحاسمة لما في استخدام بعض المناهج التحليل الباطن لمضمون الكتاب من مزالق خطر وما يحتاجه ذلك من مهارة قد تكون تحت رحمة أي أثر كتاب وثيق.
