هذه الرواية من أشهر الأعمال التي قدمها الأديب الإيطالي كارلو كولودي وهي موجهة للأطفال وتحكي لنا قصص ومغامرات بينوكيو وهو مجسم خشبي والده فقير يعمل حفارا للخشب واسمه جيبيتو وتبدأ القصة : \"لا تضربني بهذه القسوة... صاحت قطعة الخشب ولكن السيد تشيري النجار لم يصدق أذنيه... كان ذلك أكثر مما يحتمل النجار المسكين، فسقط مغشيا عليه. بعد أن عاد لوعيه أعطى قطعة الخشب لجاره جيبيتو، الذي نحتها وصنع منها تمثالا رائعا، هو بينوكيو...\" ذلك المشاغب المضحك، يمر بكثير من المتاعب والمغامرات المسلية.
