مجموعة من مقالات غادة السمان تعود تواريخها إلى الأعوام ما بين 1961 - 2005 من مقالاتها دعوة إلى النهوض، إلى السير باتجاه الضوء ورفض العتمة. في مقالاتها غادة السمان شحنات تستثير الكرامة تستثير الهمة الراكدة في بحيرات الجهل. تأتي مجموعة هذه المقالات في سلسلة الأعمال غير الكاملة تحت عنوان \"امرأة عربية.. حرة\" وقد كتبتها منذ زمن، وهي تجمع كمقالاتها وكتاباتها عامة بين جزالة الأسلوب وعمق المعاني وبساطة الكلمات. مقالات كتبت منذ زمن إلا أنها من النمط الباقي دائماً.وتبين السمان في صفحات كتابها كيف تعرضت في تلك الفترة إلى هجوم من الشيخ علي الطنطاوي، الذي وصف كتاباتها بأنها دعوة إلى الانحراف وانحلال المجتمع، وقد حماها موقع أبيها كعميد جامعة دمشق كما اسم عائلتها من اتهامها شخصياً بالانحراف، ولكن الكاتبة ردت يومها بأسلوب متزن وواع وأعلنت في ردها هذا نوعاً من المبادئ التي يمكن اعتبارها شكلاً من النسوية الشرقية أو العربية، مقابل النسوية الغربية.
