هذا الكتاب هو في الأصل رسالة في الدكتورة بعنوان \"أبو البركات بن الأنباري ودراساته النحوية\" للمؤلف الدكتور فاضل السامراني. يشتمل هذا البحث على تمهيد وخمسة أبواب وخاتمة، أما التمهيد فهو بحث مختصر في عصر ابن الأنباري من حيث الحالة الإجتماعية والسياسية والعلمية، وإن الباب الأول يبحث في نشأته وثقافته، وأما الباب الثاني فهو ذكر لآثاره ودراسة الكتابة \"الإنصاف\" من حيث تصنيفه ومسائله وطريقته وأسلوبه ومآخذ علمية عليه وإستدلالاته، ودراسة لكتابة \"البيان في غريب إعراب القرآن\". والباب الثالث بحث في جهوده في أصول النحو، وأثر علم الكلام والمنطق والفقه والحديث فيه، والباب الرابع بحث في موقفه من الشواهد والعوامل، وأما الباب الخامس وهو الأخير فهو بحث في السمات البارزة في دراساته، ثم بعد ذلك جاءت الخاتمة وهي خلاصة ما توصل إليه المؤلف في بحثه هذا.
