جاء هذا الكتاب ليدرس شعرية تشكيل الحوار بقراءة تحليلية للنصوص الحوارية وبيان أبعادها الفنية والجمالية والكشف عن الدلالات التي تمخضت عنها بفصلين من حيث تشكيل أنماط الحوار ووظائفه. قام الكتاب في الفصل الأول بقراءة (تشكيل أنواع الحوار) بنوعيه الأول (الحوار الخارجي : الثنائي-التناوبي) من حيث الحوار المركب (الوصفي التحليلي)، والحوار الترميزي، والحوار المجرد من الوصف والتحليل والترميز، والثاني (الحوار الداخلي : الفردي-الأحادي) من حيث المونولوج وحوار تيار الوعي ومناجاة النفس والارتجاع الفني والتخيل. وخص الفصل الثاني بقراءة (تشكيل وظائف الحوار) من حيث (تصوير الشخصية) بأبعادها الأربعة : البعد الخارجي، والبعد الفكري، والبعد النفسي، والبعد الاجتماعي فضلا عن (تقديم الحدث) من حيث الاستهلال الحارات للحدث، والخاتمة الحوارية للحدث.
