يقسم الكتاب إلى مقدمة وثلاثة أبواب وفصول يستعرض الباب الأول التأويل في الفكر الإنساني، ومنهجيات القراءة، أما الباب الثاني فيستعرض بعض الجوانب التطبيقية للنص، حيث عرضت المؤلفة لكيفيات الإستثمار المعرفي للنص الديني وبيان الأسس التي انطلقت منها نظرية الحكم في التشريع الإسلامي وفي التشريع المسيحي واثر الفعال العبادية والمعاملات في سلوك الفرد ومعرفته وأما الباب الثالث فكان وقفة مع أهم وأبرز المشاريع التي تناولت النص الديني قراءة وتنقيبا.
