يتابع هذا الكتاب حلقة تكاد تكون غائبة في الدراسات المعنية بعصر الحروب الصليبية ذلك هو دور الموصل في قيادة حركة المقاومة الإسلامية للغزو الصليبي في مرحلة ولاة السلاجقة (495-520 هـ / 1101-1126 م) والتي سبقت (عماد الدين زنكي) وشهدت جملة من الانتصارات الحاسمة ضد الغزاة في الجزيرة الفراتية والشام وفلسطين ولقد توجت هذه المرحلة بإنقاذ حلب من السقوط المحقق بأيدي الصليبيين وتوحيدها مع الموصل ومنح هذا عمقا استراتيجيا في بلاد الشام وفتح الطريق أمام الناصر صلاح الدين لكي يواصل طريق المقاومة.
