يقدم الكتاب قراءة نقدية لفلسفة أرسطو بالإستناد إلى مؤلفه الضخم \"علم الأخلاق إلى نيقوماخوس\" والذي يعد من أنفس الكتب الأخلاقية في العالم وقد وصل المؤلف من خلاله إلى نتيجة مؤداها \"أن الأخلاق الأرسطية هي أخلاق سعادة لا أخلاق واجب \"إفعل هذا لأنه يؤدي إلى سعادتك\" وليس إفعل هذا لأنه واجبك وفي سياق بحثه استطاع البرهنة أن الفضيلة الاخلاقية تتطلب اختيارا تأمليا وقصدا إداريا يعني أنها تتطلب العقل.
