جاء في القصة : شعر الأمير الشاب بدفقة من الحماس وفكر بلا تردد أنه سيضع نهاية لمغامرة جميلة وعقد العزم، مدفوعا بالرغبة في الحب والمجد، على الذهاب لمعاينة المكان ليرى ما فيه... اجتاز بهوا فسيحا مبلطا بالرخام، ثم صعد الدرج ودخل إلى قاعة الحرس فوجدهم مصطفين في صفوف بأسلحتهم على أكتافهم مصدرين غطيطا مضطردا. مر بغرف عديدة ملأى برجال وسيدات نيام أيضا، بعضهم واقف والبعض الآخر جالس. ثم دخل إلى حجرة تسطع ببريق الذهب، فرأى على الفراش الذي كشفت عنه الستائر من كل اتجاه أجمل منظر وقعت عليه عيناه طيلة حياته : أميرة تبدو في نحو الخامسة عشرة أو السادسة عشرة، لجمالها بهاء نوراني وسماوي. اقترب مرتعدا من الإعجاب وجثا على ركبتيه بالقرب منها.
