لا يمكن لأي مجتمع أن يتطور في مجالاته المختلفة، إلا عن طريق التأثر والتأثير الثقافي (لا سيما اللغوي) مع غيره. فلا عجب، إذن، في أن يكون عدد أولئك الذين يتعلمون أو يهتمون بتعلم لغات الأمم الأخرى، يربو وينمو يوما بعد يوم وجيلا بعد جيل، كهدف يتخطى دائرة الاهتمام الشخصي إلى ضرورة التكيف مع متطلبات الحياة العلمية والعملية اليومية واللغتين، العربية والإنكليزية، لا زالتا من أهم اللغات التي شهدت وتشهد هذا التفاعل على النحو الذي ذكرناه من هنا، فإن حاجة الإنسان العربي إلى معرفة لغة غيره-لا سيما الإنكليزية منها-أصبحت حاجة لا مناص منها، في عالم تشابكت فيه المصالح والأعمال وتعددت فيه الميول والاتجاهات التي أمست المقرر الأساسي في نمو أو تراجع الحياة العملية اليومية.
