يتناول الكتاب ثلاثة أبواب الباب الأول اختص بتكوين الحوفي الثقافي وتراثه العلمي في فصول ثلاثة الأول فيه حاولت الدراسة إبراز الحالة السياسية التي مرت بها البلاد منذ دخول الإسلام مصر إلى عصر الحوفي والفصل الثاني اختص ببيان حياة الحوفي وثقافته وكيف تكونت هذه الثقافة والفصل الثالث وفيه كشفت الدراسة عن تراثه العلمي وأثره فيمن جاء بعده ثم مصادره التي استقي منها مادة كتابة \"البرهان\" أما الباب الثاني اختص ببيان منهجه في التفسير، والباب الثالث فقد جاء معالجا لجانب مهم من جوانب البحث هو المدرسة المصرية في التفسير وأثر الحوفي فيها.
